Today is the sixth anniversary of Sterling Silver Comics.

Just wanted to give a big thanks to all of my customers for the great support they’ve shown my store, Sterling Silver Comics, ever since it opened on November 5th, 2014. It means a great deal to me that you all have stuck with me this entire time, especially this year when things got to be quite difficult for all of us.

I appreciate everything you’ve done for me, and I look forward to providing top-notch funnybook service to you for years to come! Thanks again, and I’ll see you at the shop!

Yes, we are still open…and Free Comic Book Summer is happinging, too!

There’s been some concern with the recent reclosings of some California businesses, but I just want to assure you that Sterling Silver Comics is still open to the public! The new closing order does not affect retail businesses like mine, and we are allowed to still service the public so long as we follow the distance-keepin’, mask-wearin’ regulations!

So, drop on in…or if you prefer to keep doing mail order or curbside pickup, that’s okay too! Feel free to call with any questions!

And, as you saw by the pic above, Free Comic Book Day Summer is upon up! Every Wednesday from this week ’til the beginning of September, we’ll have a new batch of FREE COMICS for you to pick up! C’mon in and help yourselves!

Hours for Saturday, July 4th!

I will be open for at least part of the day Saturday, July 4th, from 11 AM ’til whenever it feels like it’s time to shut the doors for the day. I’ll be here at least ’til 4 PM.

Everyone have a safe holiday!

It’s s Free Comic Book Day SUMMER!

Free Comic Book Day will be happening this year, but it won’t be just one day, but a whole lotta days!

Every week, from July 15th to September 9th, a small assortment of free comics will be made available! All free to you, no purchase necessary! Just come in and say “GIMME THOSE FREE COMICS, PLEASE!” There will be new ones every week, so check back here to see what will be available each and every Wednesday! Also, I plan to have some kind of special deal/sale to coincide with each free comic book release, so also check back here for details!

As always, you can check out the official Free Comic Book Day site for more information!

A couple of reminders!

Just reminding you about two things:

1. Sterling Silver Comics is open for walk-in business (just wear a mask!) but if you prefer mail order or curbside pick-up, that’s still okay too!

2. I’m still listing newly-priced back issues (like those pictured above!) on this Google sheet…see anything there you’d like, just contact me and we’ll get those goodies into your hands!

Yes, we’re officially open to the public again!

SURPRISE! Just got official word from the city….my doors are now open, and you can actually come into the store again! All I ask is that you maintain recommended physical distancing and wear some kind of mask…we all still need to be careful and not get sick!

If you still prefer to get your stuff from me via mail order or curbside pickup, those options are of course still available.

Thanks for your patience, everyone, and I look forward to seeing your (masked) faces again!

I ASSURE YOU WE’RE OPEN!

Apparently if you Google up the store, it has us marked as “TEMPORARILY CLOSED,” but I promise you, I am open for pick-up and mail orders! I may not be allowed to let folks actually into the store, but I am getting new product and selling goodies to whoever needs them!

Already contacted Google to have them change that notification, but I am here! I’ve been here the whole time, working more or less regular hours processing your orders. If you need anything, either for curbside pickup or to be mailed to your door, just email me, message me, or give me a ring at 805-484-4708. Thanks!

STERLING SILVER COMICS UPDATE!

As per the California goverment’s Phase Two for reopening businesses, Sterling Silver Comics will now be open for curbside pickup!

Which is, of course, good timing since I’m beginning to get new comic shipments at the store again! You already know that I’ve been receiving small shipments of new DC Comics for the last couple of weeks. Starting Wednesday, May 20th, I will begin to receive full shipments of new comics and goodies from Diamond, includig new Marvel, new Dark Horse, and new everything else.

I know curbside pickup isn’t as convenient or fun for comic shopping, but be sure to keep an eye on this website to see what’s new each week, and feel free to call me with your wants (if you don’t already have a pull box with me) and we can get your orders processed and ready for when you come to the store!

Thank you for all your support during this difficult time for all of us, and with any luck, you’ll be able to wander the aisles of my shop once again someday soon!

Just a quick update for what’s going on at Sterling Silver Comics.

In case you hadn’t heard the news, there have been a couple of industry announcements in regards to new comic shipments finally resuming.

First, the main comics distributor for the U.S., Diamond Comics, has announced its intention to start shipping out new comics again in mid-to-late May. I don’t think everything’s exactly nailed down just yet, but that seems to be the timeframe for new material to start showing up again.

Second, DC Comics has decided to go with alternative distribution for their own comics a little earlier than that, with plans to have new comics in stores next week. They will also be send out new comics this way for the two weeks following that, but as to their plans after that, whether they’ll continue taking and shipping orders this way or return to Diamond’s distribution, I’m not sure. I’m still sorting everything out!

But rest assured I will start receiving comics as soon as they’re available. I’ve already set up an account and placed orders through one of DC’s new distribution centers, so I will have comics for next week. I will make sure to announce what books I have, when I have them, in all the usual places.

The other thing is that I am still not sure when non-essential retail businesses like my own will be allowed to reopen for the public again. It’s possible we’ll be back to some kind of limited retail access in the near future. However, if I am still required to be closed, as I will most certainly will be when DC’s shipments resume in late April/early May, please feel free to call or email me to arrange for mail order and the like.

I plan on continuing to be at the shop during my regular business hours while I am required to be closed, so you should always be able to reach me at 805-484-4708, or via email or Facebook message or whathaveyou, if there’s anything else you need.

Also keep in mind I’m still trying to get some recent back issue arrivals listed in this Google sheet, and I’m still selling these packs of 30 random comics for $20.

Thanks for reading and for all your support through this time. Everyone stay safe and healthy out there.

Update on new comic shipments!

Just got word from my distributor, Diamond Comics, that starting with product with an on-sale date of April 1st, shipments of new product to all U.S. comic shops will be held until further notice. This means that this week’s shipment of comics will be the last batch of new goodies for a while.

However, I have plenty of old comics and graphic novels available, and am happy to special order items (since Diamond will still be processing reorders) so please feel free to put in your requests. Plus, this might me a good time to catch up on emptying out your pull boxes, hint hint.

This is just a temporary situation, and the comic shipments should resume once things begin to normalize.

I know stopping new comic shipments seems drastic, but this is actually good news for the store’s survival, as I now don’t have to worry about trying to keep up on paying weekly invoices with product going unsold. A lot of you have been helping out, having me ship out your comics and whatnot, but I need foot traffic, I need folks to be able to walk around and find new items they might be interested in…things that are kind of hard to have happen when the store is closed to the public!

Thank you for your continued patronage, and all of your generosity and assistance at this time. We’ll get through this!
